For generations, the Vicchio di Sotto farm has passionately dedicated itself to traditional chestnut cultivation, combining ancient methods with modern environmental protection practices.
During the care and harvesting activities of the chestnut grove, our attention is not only focused on the quality of the fruit, but also on the safeguarding of wild fauna that inhabits the forest.
For this reason, trees with natural cavities or hollow trunks are not removed, as they offer refuge to birds, squirrels, bats, and other protected species.
This conscious approach allows us to maintain the natural balance of the ecosystem, fostering biodiversity and the health of the forest.
For us, cultivating chestnuts means respecting nature and its rhythms: preserving the forest habitat, protecting forest animals, and ensuring the continuity of an agricultural tradition that is an integral part of the history of Castel del Rio.
